NAMI Alaska now offers NAMI signature programs online! You can learn more about mental health topics in live, peer-led seminars from your computer, tablet, or smartphone.

There is no cost to attend, but pre-registration is necessary.

Introducing NAMI Homefront Mental Health Resources for Military Service Members, Veterans and Their Families, an online suite of  information about mental health conditions, various treatment options, effective strategies to help manage stress, tips to improve communication skills, approaches to increase overall wellness and more.


These resources can prepare you for many of life’s challenges, including how to transition from military to civilian life, where to access crisis services, how to locate support near you, and links to helpful organizations and services.

NAMI Homefront teaches you how to:

  • Learn to care for yourself, including managing your stress

  • Support your family member with compassion

  • Identify and access federal, state and local services

  • Stay informed on the latest research and information on mental health, including post-
    traumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injury, anxiety, depression and substance use

  • Understand current treatments and evidence-based therapies

  • Navigate the challenges and impact of mental health conditions on the entire family

  • Manage a crisis, solve problems and communicate effectively

NAMI Basics OnDemand is a free, six-session online education program for parents, caregivers and other family who provide care for youth aged 22 or younger who are experiencing mental health symptoms. NAMI Basics OnDemand is an adaptation of the in-person course offered in 43 states by NAMI affiliates. NAMI Basics is available for you to access any time that you choose.

NAMI Basics explores:

  • Basic elements of coping with mental health conditions

  • Brain biology and getting a diagnosis

  • Communication skills and crisis preparation

  • Treatment and connecting with others by sharing your story

NAMI Family & Friends is a seminar that teaches participants about mental health conditions and how best to support loved ones undergoing a mental health challenge. The seminar provides current information about mental health conditions, introduces effective communication skills, and promotes self care and stress management. Taught by trained teachers who are family members of people with mental illness, the seminar covers the following topics:

  • Understanding diagnoses, treatment and recovery

  • Effective communication strategies

  • The importance of self-care

  • Crisis preparation strategies
